1. Even though uncertainty naturally can cause stress, it is also one of life’s guarantees. We can’t avoid change, and doing so, creates fear, but we can fully own our ability to move through change and communicate what we need to our community to support us through this. It isn’t easy, but we are literally made to handle it. Our survival responses and instincts and our abilities to cope with stress and trauma are rooted in resiliency and in healing.

  1. You, right now, possess all the skills and qualities necessary to bring thoughtfulness, intelligence and clarity to your life. We get off track from our authentic selves and our authentic truths and sometimes we feel lost and confused because we aren’t fostering the environments around us that allow for our growth, healing and self-actualization. Embrace this chaos and take the radical first step of going inward—hike, meditate, listen to music under a tree – spend time allowing yourself to just be and feel. This will connect you to your inner voice in an intuitive way and in a way that there are no shortcuts to.

  1. In tuning into your mental health needs—you are being strong, resilient and forward-thinking. That is no small feat and something to be proud of. Changes come in small, intentional steps and you have the tools within you to start to process—even when things feel uncertain, when there is stress in your days, when it is hard to get out of bed, when you are overwhelmed by family obligations or struggling to pay the bills. It is not easy but you are capable of finding new direction to guide you towards balance, peace and the progress you want.

  1. The unknown—that is—what is, what is not the present, is always elusive in some ways. We stress about the future, anticipate plausible outcomes and dissect our intellects searching for a semblance of certainty at times. That being said, there is an alternative—which is certainly more vulnerable, but so much more rooted in the present. You don’t have to start meditating or doing yoga today to practice mindfulness. You have the ability to be present—to tune in to your feelings, and with that, you can deepen your awareness. Ask those you trust for honest feedback and offer it back. We do each other and the world a disservice when we shut off the parts of ourselves which can really be seen and felt.

  1. Your future is yours. No amount of planning can prepare us for the mysteries ahead—but planning can help give us the foundations for what we seek. Create your own middle ground and recalibrate the equation to fine-tune what balance looks like.

Be well and stay kind!
